A Message from Our Co-Chairs
A Message from Our Co-Chairs:
The Board of Directors has made a leadership transition. Effective immediately, our Executive Director, Julio Berroa, is no longer with the organization. This was not an easy decision, but the board is confident it is the right one for the organization and the community we serve. We also want to share that our Director of Operations and Development, Gem Marley, is no longer with the organization. We are grateful to Julio and Gem for their years of service and wish them the best.
We are grateful for the contributions made during this chapter of our organization’s growth and remain committed to the community we serve. Haus of Codec remains committed to our mission and programs, and we are excited to continue growing and focusing on ending transition-aged youth homelessness in Providence. As we move forward, while we conduct a search for permanent leadership, the board has appointed Tonya King as Interim Executive Director. She brings 20 years of experience in nonprofit leadership and is focused on ensuring that Haus of Codec remains a stable, strong organization.
Haus of Codec’s focus and mission remain the same. To provide services to Providence-area transition-aged youth and to build a safe and healthy community through the arts and educational empowerment. Our programs and services will continue without interruption, and our team will continue to build on the organization’s mission and vision.
We thank our co-founders, Julio Berroa and Gem Marley, for their service to the organization and wish them all the best in their future endeavors.
Haus of Codec’s legacy cannot be overstated, with the amazing work that Julio and Gem have done. We have worked to help serve many transition-age youth with housing and skills to better their futures. We remain committed to our mission to support LGBTQIA+ young adults in Rhode Island.
